The town of Crayford today, is virtually unrecognisable from just a few decades ago.


Significant investment in both infrastructure and residential development have transformed the area from a largely commercial backwater into a popular and affordable commuter area which was judged to be the third ‘most affordable’ commuter location for workers in London by the property portal Zoopla in 2020.


The location is suitable for families and business alike as the area is served by Crayford rail station which is in Zone 6 that offers services to London Charing Cross via Hither Green, London Cannon Street via both Lewisham and Woolwich Arsenal as part of a loop service.

Crayford is also served by three Transport for London bus services, 96 to Woolwich via Bexleyheath and to Bluewater via Dartford, 428 to Erith and to Bluewater, and 492 to Sidcup via Bexleyheath and to Bluewater.

The Tower retail park opened in 1999 on what was the original Vickers factory site and has now become a very popular attraction for visitors and well known ‘High Street’ businesses.

Of course, Crayford is synonymous with one of the countries most popular Sainsburys stores which was one of their biggest outlets in the UK when it was redeveloped and extended in 2011.

Other major retailers have since opened, including Aldi, no doubt attracted by the volumes of visitors who visit the area on a regular basis.

Historically, Crayford has many fascinating facts associated with the area including playing a significant part of our military history and even has a mention in the Doomsday book, in which it is reported that there 27 regular householders!
